Long story long, Apple use to have a utility that would allow syncing between outlook 2011 and iphones called isync (which is why there’s so much confusion on this issue). IPhone syncing is definitely supported in outlook for PC, but definitely not for mac. It was discontinued in Mavericks and El Capitan for an unknown reason. There has been no solid replacement for the software and the current apple position on syncing with outlook for mac is no support whatsoever. Microsoft’s position on the issue is no support. And, gmail’s position on the issue is no support. Simple question - is MS Office for Mac 2016 Outlook module fit for purpose? My employer has provided me with the latest Home Business version so I can work from home. Whilst Word etc. Work as expected I have found using Outlook to act as client for Gmail to be truly awful. With just one search on Google you will find this a common problem of many years standing and yet never appears to get resolved. Once everything is setup use CompanionLink to sync to your outlook, and iPhone to sync to and from gmail. Essentially gmail contacts become the master storage, everything syncs to gmail, and then both outlook and iPhone. I cannot open email attachments on Outlook for Mac 2011 (14.7.6). First it says 'Sync pending for this folder', then it is 'Inbox: Downloading. How 'bout forwarding it to your gmail or whatever and opening in that? This application is not cheap to say the least and yet MS appear to be in no rush to resolve these issues. What is even worse is the fallout from the sync issue. I have 4 email accounts. Let's say I decide to send from account A. I may not notice that account A has the 'sync pending for this folder' message and send the email anyway. The email does send without any problems. However, if the sync pending message is on account A then bizarrely the message is sent from one of my other email accounts. I sent one email to a client yesterday only to find it had been received from my wife's - embarrassing or what? Needless to say Outlook no longer resides in The Dock. I appreciate that you think it should be something that it isn't due to the price tag attached to it, but I am informing you that my experience doesn't show that to be the case.
